The 20th century brought not only new materials, but a new narrative. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundarqmx.org\/post\/la-vivienda-social-a-finales-del-siglo-xx\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.fundarqmx.org\/post\/la-vivienda-social-a-finales-del-siglo-xx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Industrialization, standardization, and mass production became synonymous with progress.<\/a>In post-revolutionary Mexico, a new construction paradigm emerged. This is visible in large-scale works such as the housing complex at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.excelsior.com.mx\/comunidad\/2014\/11\/22\/993734?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.excelsior.com.mx\/comunidad\/2014\/11\/22\/993734?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tlatelolco<\/a> or mid-century <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionunam.org.mx\/unam-al-dia\/el-campus-central-un-referente-arquitectonico-del-siglo-xx\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionunam.org.mx\/unam-al-dia\/el-campus-central-un-referente-arquitectonico-del-siglo-xx\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">university campuses.<\/a> Within this context, an inverse cultural association also took hold: adobe and wood began to be linked to rurality, precariousness, or backwardness. Seismic engineering introduced concepts such as structural continuity and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.construyendoseguro.com\/que-es-el-diafragma-rigido-y-cual-es-su-importancia\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.construyendoseguro.com\/que-es-el-diafragma-rigido-y-cual-es-su-importancia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rigid diaphragm<\/a>\u2014 the capacity of a concrete slab to act as a stiff plate. The distinction between a well-designed system and a poorly executed one was diluted into a more forceful claim: concrete is safer. We know that earth and wood systems offer significant environmental advantages, especially in terms of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourhome.gov.au\/materials\/embodied-energy?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.yourhome.gov.au\/materials\/embodied-energy?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">embodied energy \u2014 the total fuel and resources consumed from extraction to construction \u2014<\/a> and carbon footprint. We also know that well-designed lightweight systems or those with <a href=\"https:\/\/ethelett.com\/en\/aislamiento\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ethelett.com\/aislamiento\/\">high thermal retention capacity<\/a> can improve environmental performance and comfort. And we know that material homogenization has impoverished constructive diversity and territorial expression.
